Lately I have noticed that some of my alerts that I set in my calendar have not notified me at all.
Today I read about ways to fix this error and the one that was advised was to:
Go to Settings
Select Do Not Disturb
Go to Silence
Select Always - Incoming calls & notifications will be silenced when IPhone is either locked or unlocked.
1) Is this the best way to ensure all alerts come through? If not, please advise other ways.
2) If my IPhone is not on silent, will my alerts come through so that I can hear it especially if I am asleep?
Thank you in advance

Maybe I'm not reading this right but if you set it to Always under Do not Disturb mode ,you wont get notifications for anything! This would include calls,TXT,app notifications etc .
Have you checked under Settings > Notifications > Calendar alerts to see if its not on mute. Could have resetted to mute when the upgrade was performed.
I'd also go into the App settings for Calendar to make sure Allow notifications slide is turned ON.
There is also a helpful support page for using notifications on your iPhone here.
Let us know how you go with this.

If you've got your phone on silent, it will still vibrate when the alerts come through, as long as you haven't got them set to mute in your phones settings as @Cyrille13 mentioned.
Let us know how you go checking that and running through the support page @Cyrille13 linked you to.
