iPhone 4s only connecting to wifi

Message 1 of 16 (2,084 Views)
Im not the brightest person around with phones but pretty much, I can only use Internet when I am connected to my home wifi. My plan has 1.5gbs of data that I can't use?
I presume it's to do with 3G or something. In the top left it just has the bars and says. Voda AU

I'm not sure how to edit posts so I'll put it here.
I turned off wifi and tried to access the Internet. The message I got said "unable to connect cellular data" or something along the lines of that. I looked in settings and my cellular data is switched to on

Relax - it's usually easily fixed. Step your way through these two tasks (there's an illustrated manual):

Activate or deactivate data connections
http://devices.vodafone.com.au/wsa/ShowInstruction.aspx?Id=4380&InstructionId=903574

Set up your phone for internet - check or re-enter APN (live.vodafone.com)

No worries - here's a screen capture from Vodafone's 4S manual (it's the second link I posted).

I've looked at that and I don't have them options. I've "print screened" what it shows on my phone.

I'm so confused!

Here's the pictures of my screen:

Those pictures are helpful, thanks. Try these steps:

1)  Tap Settings, toggle Airplane Mode off, wait 5 seconds, toggle it back on
2)  Do a soft reset
3)  Do a hard reset
4)  Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.  You’ll have to  re-enter all Wi-Fi passwords, etc. after this.

Finally, sync your iPhone with iTunes on a computer with an internet connection.

My cellular data has the little flicky thing as blue and says "on" which enables me to turn on data roaming which i have done but I'm still not seeing anything to check the APN settings

like why does mine say "Cellular Data" all the pictures I've seen say Mobile data and then offer mobile data network.. Mine doesn't o.o

Unless I was doing my resets wrong, that didn't work at all :smileysad:

Hi Kkenno,

Thanks for trying all the steps that Peter posted (thanks for running through all those steps, Peter!), the steps that Peter posted would generally kick start your internet connection. There is one final step that you can try at your end which is a complete backup and restore of your iPhone. However this does take a little bit of time & I would like to check there is nothing amiss at our end first.

I have sent you a PM with my contact details, if you could send through the information I have outlined I am sure we can get you online whilst you are out and about!

Thanks

Millie
