Hi,
I am also having the same trouble.
I recently bought an iphone 4s on a vodafone contract. Unfortunately, when trying to unlock it online I got an error message saying my IMEI was wrong. i called to 1555 and asked about it. The customer service told me I need to wait 3 or 4 business days and they would send me my right IMEI .However, until now it has been 2 weeks. Can you give me any advices for it?
I need to unlock it as soon as posiible as I'm going to go overseas
Thank you so much
Tiffany
Hi Tiffany,
You can find your IMEI number by typing *#06# into your keypad, then enter it in to our unlocking tool. Once you've entered the required information, you'll need to wait 48 hours then sync your iPhone with iTunes. You'll then see a message in iTunes that says "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked".
The best way to test this is by placing another carriers SIM in your phone.
If you have any trouble with this, please fill out the unlocking difficulties form that is displayed in our unlocking tool.
Please let me know how you go.
Regards,
Sarah.

I am having the exact issue and I am very desperate because I need my new phone for my patients to contact me (I am a surgeon).
Can someone from Vodafone please, please help my unlock my iPhone 4S as soon as possible please?
The online unlocking tool is not recognising my IMEI

I am having a similar problem with Vodafone and getting them to unlock my iphone. I bought a new 4s outright 2 days ago because the sales person told me I could take it home and unlock it straight away. It didn't work as the IMEI was not recognised. I called Vodafone who were most unhelpful and told me it would take 4 business days to sort out. Great news on a Friday night.
I tried to take it back to the store today and they assured me that if I restored it through iTunes it would work. It didn't. I desperately need a phone and only bought it there because the sales person told me the wrong thing. They won't even allow me to return the phone as it is now opened which is completely against consumer law.
My next step is to contact the ACCC unless it is sorted out in the next 24 hours.

Hi rkhong,
Did you purchase your iPhone directly form Vodafone, or outright from Apple or another retailer?
If your handset wasn't purchased through Vodafone, your handset's IMEI number will not be in our records, menaing that our unlocking tool will generate an error. When you sync your handset through iTunes, the handset locks to the provider of the SIM card inside the phone.
If you purchased the handset through us, then we can manually send a request for unlocking to work around the issue you are having with our online tool.

-Bruno.

Hi nickb,
Was the handset bought form a Vodafone store, or from one of our re-sellers? If it was bought through a re-seller, the IMEI will not be in our database.
When you called us, which department did you speak with? It may be that they sent a request to have our data updated with your IMEI.
So that I can follow this up for you, I've sent you a private message requesting some additional information from you. You can access your private messages here.
Regards,
-Bruno.

Hi there,
I am expereincing the same problem as all the other vodafone customers that have posted here.
I have entered this number into the www.vodafone.com.au/unlock page and get this message:
Customer Action: UNLOCK
Error: The device is owned by a different mobile carrier or could not be marked for unlocking by Apple.
My IMEI is: 013008008824144
I have contacted vodafone multiple times and the issue has not been resolved. Please help
Regards,
Catherine

When you call us up, we need to send the IMEI off to be registered through our website so it can be unlocked. This process is usually completed within 48 hours. Once it's completed, it's best to run through the procedure on the Unlock Page again. Once this process is completed, you should be able to back up and restore your handset through iTunes, and it will then be unlocked. You will need to back up and restore your phone before it will work with a non Vodafone SIM.
If you've already attempted this, please let me know. I will be able to to look in to your account from there, and get it sorted out for you.
Thanks,
Nick
