Hi,
I recently purchased an iphone 4s on a vodafone contract from the Apple store, which is currently locked to Vodafone (I've checked by putting in a Telstra SIM). Unfortunately, when trying to unlock it online I got an error message saying the IMEI couldn't be found. Afer filling in the support request I received a message today stating:
"Thank you for contacting Vodafone. Your unlock code and or instructions are now available at www.vodafone.com.au/unlock Kind Regards Vodafone'
However, now upon going to the website I get a new error message saying:
"Customer Action: UNLOCK
Error: The device is owned by a different mobile carrier or could not be marked for unlocking by Apple."
I've filled in the support request and called Vodafone who told me that I should go to the store I bought it from. I went into the Apple store who looked up the phone and told me it's definitely locked to Vodafone but couldn't help me further other than telling me to contact Vodafone.
Would you please help with this? I need to get it unlocked ASAP as I'm heading overseas and need to be able to use a local carriers SIM. If you send me a message, I can email you the IMEI number.
Kind regards,
Michael

Hi,
Would someone from Vodafone please advise how this can be resolved? I have received yet another SMS stating 'Dear Customer, Your unlocking Details are now uploaded and are available on www.vodafone.com.au/unlock', however I still get the same error message. I have called 1555 however they are unable to help me and just insist on resubmitting the form on the website again.
Regards,
Michael

Thanks Allan/Kirsty for your response. Fortunately someone at Apple Senior Technical support took it upon themselves to contact Vodafone and the relevant people on Apple's side on my behalf and have it resolved. As such the phone is now unlocked and I'm glad I bought an Apple phone otherwise I'd probably still be arguing with the Vodafone operators at 1555 that despite what it says on the unlocking website, I am sure I purchased the phone from Vodafone and it is locked to Vodafone...

Hi,
I am also having the same trouble.
I recently bought an iphone 4s on a vodafone contract. Unfortunately, when trying to unlock it online I got an error message saying my IMEI was wrong. i called to 1555 and asked about it. The customer service told me I need to wait 3 or 4 business days and they would send me my right IMEI .However, until now it has been 2 weeks. Can you give me any advices for it?
I need to unlock it as soon as posiible as I'm going to go overseas
Thank you so much
Tiffany
