Hi
I have had my iPad 2 for a little while now and it has been working extremely well. However recently it stopped connecting to the internet. I am a post paid client, so there is no problem with not having enough data etc.... The error I am receiving when trying to connect is...
"Could not activate Cellular data network: PDP Authentication Failure"
Please help!
Thanks heaps,
Shari

Hi Shari - I'm envious of the iPad, but not the data error. Anyway, try this:
Internet setup - iPad 2 (Vodafone)
On the device, go to Settings > Mobile Data or Cellular Data > APN settings.
Enter live.vodafone.com as the APN.
Enter the Username and Password listed below. If no value is listed, leave the field blank:
Username:
Password:
After saving the settings, exit to the homescreen by press Home. Now hold the Home and Power buttons at the same time until the screen goes black. Wait 15 seconds. Then hold the Power button until you see the white Apple logo (then release it).
Allow your iPad to boot up. Be sure the 3G appears in the upper left of your iPad and then open Safari and see if you can browse.
It could be also be a network problem or perhaps it's just a matter of synching with iTunes. Make sure you try that too.
And reboot, etc.
Another instance of iPad data error

Went overseas and used free wifi then came back and error as above kept coming up. Tried various fixes and none worked. Just tried yours and now all fixed. Many many thanks.!!

Peter, you are indeed a roblem solver.
Thanks for the solution. It worked for my ipad 3 as well.
Only thing I would like add here is that to use 3G, you will need to set Wi-Fi to OFF. The moment you will do that, you will see a 3G sign appear at the top left hand side of the ipad screen. So at any given time, either you can use 3G or Wi-Fi.

Ali Bajwa.

I would also like to add to what Peter said. Rather than resetting your iPad and turning it on again, you could simply turn it off and on again, or, even simpler, turn airplane mode on and off. All of these will work because they all reset the data connection.
