Hi mej,

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing slow broadband speeds. I'm happy to look into this for you.  How long has this been occurring for you? What is the suburb/postcode where this is happening? Does your device work in other locations?

Thanks,
Gemma

Hi Gemma

The first two months with Vodfone was ok but the last month it has been worse than dialup speed. Unless I log on at 5am in the morning then it is pretty good speed.

A simple youtube video of say 5 min takes 30 minutes to load.

I would estimate that 80% of the time I have old dial up speeds.

The device is positioned directly inside a window.  Moving to another location would mean packing up my desktop computer and trott around the house.

Postcode is 2141

Hi mej,

Thanks for supplying your postcode but I just need the suburb as well, if possible.  That postcode covers 3 other suburbs and it's just a little hard to pinpoint where to look.

Thanks,

Dana.

Hello Dana

Sorry for the delay I have been overseas.

The suburb is Lidcombe and I am on the Homebush Stadium side of Lidcombe.

My window faces towards the Stadium and Parramatta Road.

Regards

MEJ

I am in Rosebud, Victoria - postcode 3939.  Have internet stick.

Had problems with signal dropping in and out.  Rang Vodafone and was told to transfer from 3G preferred to 3G.  Service great for 2 days - then over weekend and today has been dropping out every minute or so.  I spend more time waiting for service to resume than actually using the connection.  When downloading large files service is good (not great) but when browsing or not downloading connection is terrible.

Happens whether I have 2, 4 or 5 bars showing.  Not good enough.

Am waiting now for service to resume so I can post - very frustrating.

MEJ and Me3,

  • Does the device show it's connected and stay that way? Is there a constant blue light on the modem?
  • Does the webpage come up  "Server not found" or "Connection reset"?

On screen - 3 bars showing.

Modem light blue light goes to dark blue when service quits working.  This am intermittent dark blue - could not connect at all.  This pm mainly dark blue (not able to access internet) going occasionally to light blue.

Am now waiting for light blue light so I can post.

Hello Lance

My thread does not involve a 'connection' problem.

I am paying for broadband speed and receiving dial up speed unless I log on at 4-5am in the morning then I get reasonable broadband speed.

As requested I have submitted a more accurate location I presume to assess the congestion situation in that area.

I am not sure a 'three way' chat with unrelated issues is constructive to resolving my issue.

Hi Mej

Lucky you getting to go overseas! Do you mind if I ask where you went? Sorry I am being nosy but I am so jealous of you! :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks for posting specifics on your location, it makes it a lot easier at my end.

  • On the dashboard of your Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) software does it show 3G, H or 2G/GSM? Does it regularly flick between the different types?
  • What model USB modem do you have and what operating system do you use on your computer?
Thanks for letting us know that you were using a desktop and not a laptop - I agree that lugging it around the house would be supremely impractical - if not amusing for onlookers! It's great that you already have it positioned next to a window as this allows for the best possible connection.
Thanks
Millie
