Increased Call Charges/Rates

Message 1 of 2 (602 Views)

Hi

I had 3 contracts with 3 and I was advised to move on to Vodafail and was promised that everything will be same except I will get new sim cards. I mean everything i.e. call charges, flag fall rates etc should remain exactly same as it was with 3 but today after  3 months I have discovered that Vodafail is charging me higher call rates and flag falls. Original 3 had 19 cents and Vodafail is charging 28Cents ie. 9 Cents higher than 3. Go figure..and they said they can't do anything about it.

Also, I was not informed that my HTC Desire supplied by 3 is not compatible with Vodafail and hence I am not able to use 3G data and have tremondous network issues with calls.

Is there anyone out there who reads this post?

You're right. There are some differences between the plans that 3 offers and the plans that Vodafone offer. Whilst we are comfortable that these plans are very similar, they definitely aren't the same, so you shouldn't be told they are when you move across.

There are even some plans that are specifically designed with similar features to some of the older 3 plans. These plans are especially for customers on particular 3 plans who want to move across to Vodafone, and aren't available at all to new customers.

Even these plans, based directly off their 3 equivalents, aren't exactly identical.

It's also important to note that, whilst the call/TXT rates may differ slightly between the equivalent plans on 3 and Vodafone, so do some of the inclusions. As an example, the $49 plan with 3 included $500 worth of call/TXT inclusions each month, where as the equivalent Vodafone plan includes $550.

The HTC Desire HD will definitely work on both our 2G and 3G networks. It isn't able to access the 850MHz network, but it can still access 3G over 2100MHz, or 900MHz network in regional areas.

If you've bought the phone across with you when you moved from 3, then you will need to update a few settings before it works though.

The settings you should check are the APN settings. These give the phone all the details it needs to connect to the Internet, and vary depending on a number of factors, including the network that you're on. Because 3 and Vodafone operate separate networks, the APNs are also different.

Our website has a handy tool that helps you set up the Internet on your phone. I'd suggest having a look at it here.

At this stage I can see that you've emailed us. Dana has received your email and is working on a solution for you.

Cheers,

Nick
