I regret moving to Vodafone

Message 1 of 9 (2,743 Views)

I made the switch about two weeks ago, and now I regret it.

The huawei phone I have is appalling - it wont connect to my Mac and more often that not i receive an SMS that tells me someone has tried to call. The phone hasnt rung though... I am going to buy my own phone and hope that works on the vodafone network.

I also swapped my mobile broadband. The vodafone huawei usb modem stick is always dropping out and restarting. The modem stick has an annoying feature in that it is only accessible via the Safari browser. Every time it drops out, it starts a new safari window - so i can end up with 6 or 7 safari windows with vodafone quickstart on my screen.

I also enjoy it when the ridiculous software on the usb stick turns all my other safari tabs into vodafone quickstart screens - requiring a restart and a 15 minute interrupton to my work as i reload windows and documents i was working on.

It is connected to a desktop Mac pro - that hasnt shifted for a few years. I never had this problem with 3. The three modem was also huawei.

i suspect vodafone have tried to make modem connection idiot proof - just plug it in and it works. sadly, they have not provided me with an option to disconnect the idiot software and just use it as a modem.

Summary - i regret signing to Vodafone.

hahaha yea i dont like anything huwei. My older brother works in a Dick smith and do you know what the most returned product brand is ?? yea you guessed it huwei haha.. their generally annoying if you want my opinion.. if you want a cheap reliable phone that connects to mac easier get a HTC. http://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-details/buy-htc-explorer-active-black?plantab=365Cap my reccomendation for ya if you want cheap.. if you want great go for a Galaxy Note (sorry i'm biased i have a note and love it XD)

And dont worry i hate it when people put idiot software on stuff and dont give me an option to turn it off.. i dont have a vodafone usb internet stick so i dont have any ideas for that one but i'd assume that its a software problem and sadly unless you have software design knowledge e.g C++ or Python scripting their probably isnt much you can do.. just see if you have a settings option and see if you can change settings.

BACK WITH A VENGENCE TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS. THROW EM AT ME I'LL KNOCK EM DOWN LIKE A TOWER OF CARDS

I'm glad you mentioned that you've been with us for 2 weeks now, hopefully we can correct your troubles and stop you from having to buy your own phone.

If you don't mind I will need to ask you a few questions, the answers will help me understand what is happening and then we can actively take the next step.

As you have recently changed over form the 3 Network, I would really like to check in on the Vodafone coverage in your area. Could you kindly let me know which suburb and postcode you're situated in please? With this I can see if there are any disruptions in your area, which may be affecting your signal and causing the calls to go straight to messages.

It would be great to know which Huawei phone you use please and the specific modem too, if that's alright? I can then tailor the troubleshooting methods to your devices.

The Safari browser is only connected with your Mac and not associated with the Huawei. Are you unable to access any alternative web browsers for example Firefox?

When the Vodafone quickstart screens appear is this just after you've experienced a drop? I can appreciate that a restart each time after this occurs would be quite time consuming and frustrating.

The 3 modem you used, was it the same model as your current Vodafone one? If you still have it are you able to try your Vodafone SIM in it please and see if the problems persist? If the 3 modem won't work, it is like its still locked to the 3 network you can easily unlock it using this Website.

I look forward to your response and please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Amy

There certainly are a great deal of phones on the market which provide each of us with our favourites.

Please feel free to post if you have any questions.

Vodafone have provided a replacement handset - a Nokia C2 which can connect to my Mac. It is a simple phone and although i havent made too many calls, those I have ai can actually hear teh other party. Much better than teh Huawei.

Thankyou Vodafone.

The usb modem is still problematic. I simply disconnect and reconnect it when it begins to behave strangely.

I'm glad to hear you're happy with the Nokia and that it's doing a much better job at meeting your needs.  In my own experience, I find that Nokias really excel at providing the simple functions you need from a phone.

Could you give us an idea of how often this would be? Are we talking about an occasional inconvenience, or a constant frustration that has you pulling your hair out? We'd be happy to troubleshoot this further for a solution.  Is it something that you addressed in your conversation with James?

Thanks,

Jerome
