We know how much you love to have the latest software on your phone and we love to get it to you. But, we can't always get it to you as quickly as you'd like. What we can do is keep you in the loop throughout the process. This weekly wrap is our way of doing that.

Stuff you need to know about software updates

Just as we don't make the phones we sell, we don't code the software that runs on them. We do some testing to make sure they work as we expect them to, but that's all there is to our part in the process.

Software updates are complicated, and there's a lot of moving parts to take into account (enough to fill three whole blog posts). But that's for us to worry about, not you.
We'll do the hard work behind the scenes like chasing our suppliers and doing the testing. The easy stuff is letting you know how we're progressing, and that's where this post and the table below comes in.

News from overseas

All the info we have on the updates we know about is below. Keep in mind though that this just for us here at Vodafone AU.
What happens overseas doesn't apply locally, so that info on a UK release or news about Android 4.4 KitKat you read on the web won't be coming to your phone straight away.
As soon as we hear news though, this is the place to read all about it. I'll be back for you again next week so stay tuned if what you're looking for isn't here yet.

What's in the labs?

Isn't the update for the Galaxy Note 3 going to be 4.4.2? Why 4.4?

I hope it's not a repeat of when the Galaxy S3 was updated to Jelly Bean from Ice Cream Sandwich... They rolled out update 4.1.1 first which was atrocious then they decided to roll out update 4.1.2 Premium Suite. Why couldn't they just do this in the first place I don't know.

Updated my HTC One to 4.4.2 and now it wont connect to the wifi at my house anymore....

Is this a software or hardware problem, or another issue all together?

Hi @tpr91

We're still waiting on the release dates for the HTC One Mini. As soon as we have a date for you, you'll see it here first.

Hi @Harm

Is it just your home Wi-Fi that the phone won't connect to, or is it all Wi-Fi networks?

While it's rare, sometimes you'll see small bugs like this when you update your software. If you haven't already, your first move is to back up all of your important data. From there, try a factory reset to re-install the new software. More often that not, that'll see you back up and running.

Keep us posted.

Thanks @Harm. Can you try telling your phone to forget the network and re-add? This can help kick it back into gear.

Hey @astarman,

May have a little bug in the update. Can you try a quick back up and factory reset? It'll make sure everything has installed correctly. We have a guide that'll run you through backing up here, and doing a factory reset here.

We're currently testing 4.2.2 for the S4 Mini. We'll keep you updated on testing each week so you know where it's at.

Hi @5speedeb

When the firmware version is updated with the same version it is a Maintenance release. This is normally done to improve stability and security updates for your handset :smileyhappy:
