We know how much you love to have the latest software on your phone and we love to get it to you. But, we can't always get it to you as quickly as you'd like. What we can do is keep you in the loop throughout the process. This weekly wrap is our way of doing that.

Stuff you need to know about software updates

Just as we don't make the phones we sell, we don't code the software that runs on them. We do some testing to make sure they work as we expect them to, but that's all there is to our part in the process.

Software updates are complicated, and there's a lot of moving parts to take into account (enough to fill three whole blog posts). But that's for us to worry about, not you.
We'll do the hard work behind the scenes like chasing our suppliers and doing the testing. The easy stuff is letting you know how we're progressing, and that's where this post and the table below comes in.

News from overseas

All the info we have on the updates we know about is below. Keep in mind though that this just for us here at Vodafone AU.
What happens overseas doesn't apply locally, so that info on a UK release or news about Android 4.4 KitKat you read on the web won't be coming to your phone straight away.
As soon as we hear news though, this is the place to read all about it. I'll be back for you again next week so stay tuned if what you're looking for isn't here yet.

What's in the labs?

by Community Expert ‎20-02-2014 03:19 PM

Hi @VinothArockiam

Just have an eye on the blog here and if there are any updates Vodafone will be sure to post it. Software update weekly is normally posted on a Thursday :smileyhappy:

Xperia M is shown as Testing Scheduled for the past 4 weeks and there is no improvement at all, while other devices has put into testing and even started rolling out the updates. Why Xperia M is not been put under testing? Can someone care to explain why there is such a delay to start testing. Thanks.

when will be updet 4.3 for S3 4G whether you know

by gmests ‎20-02-2014 09:50 PM

4.3 for the Galaxy S4 I9506 please; Samsung released it 2 months agoooooo

by Community Expert ‎20-02-2014 09:59 PM

@gmests - really? The information I can find shows that of the 14 releases of that update around the world, only a single one was in December. Four were in January (one month ago) and the remainder were all in February.

Right now it's up to Samsung Australia to give the update to Vodafone. After all, how can Vodafone release something they don't have?

by WildanIlham ‎21-02-2014 02:03 AM

when the testing start for xperia m please?

4 week and keep "testing scheduled".

by Community Expert ‎21-02-2014 02:47 AM

Put simply, @WildanIlham and @Raj_m - Vodafone can't test something they don't have. They need to wait for Sony to deliver the update to them.

Are you getting any error messages along the way, or does the update install seem to go ok until the restart?

Can you try updating with your computer instead? If you're not sure of the steps, head over here for a guide on PC, or over here, for a guide on Mac.

any news on any updates for s4 mini?????

by tarcsita ‎22-02-2014 08:51 PM

Xperia T,TX,V,SP get a bug fix update/firmware???!!!

by akkush ‎22-02-2014 10:56 PM

Good question tarcsita. XSP JB4.3 suffers from two heavy bugs. For me at least. Stamina and LED notifications. Stamina simply doesnt work (no battery fault!!!) and LED nots. doesnt care about what i set for them.

by Community Expert ‎23-02-2014 05:54 AM

@tarcsita and @akkush

You can see Testing scheduled on a Quick maintenance update for Sony Xperia TX and SP.Hopefully this addresses the issues you're having. If there is anything in particular you've noticed from the 4.3 update it would be best to post it here so Vodafone can pass on the feedback to the testing team.

by akkush ‎23-02-2014 06:42 AM

Yes ,i know about the maintenance update ,thanks !
Hm... Bugs... Bugs... Automatic brightness must be improved too... not so very impressive.
And it would be nice to not autostart google+ and other bloatware. :smileyhappy:

No news right now. When there's anything to share, we'll be sure to post it on a Weekly Wrap. So it's worth checking back each week for updates.

Sony XSP. Constantly twitches backlight or screen on gray 4.3.

4.1.2 this problem is not present. The same problem still have seven people.

by akkush ‎23-02-2014 08:10 PM

Newly noticed : if it is dark enough, the screen flashes a little bit if i unlock it. (C5303)

I think its an auto-brightness bug.

The Galaxy S III 3G (GT-I9300T) update is now out, enjoy!

by anas1982 ‎25-02-2014 06:03 AM

I updated my galaxy s3  via OTA, but it did not work even  things got worse the phone just stuck on samsung logo

how i can solve such big failure in the system!!!! i lost all my data

need for quik respond with a solution.

by Community Expert ‎25-02-2014 10:02 AM

Whenever you update your firmware, even OTA, there's always a risk that something can go wrong. That's why all of the Vodafone support articles tell you to back up your data first. Try a firmware recovery using Kies on your computer. It's unlikely that your data can be recovered.

by Ska8 ‎25-02-2014 05:47 PM

Updated my s3 to 4.3 yesterday...all ok and update is terrific.....except the following.

When phone is restarted..ie boots up, facebook notification appears.."log in to sync Facebook with your other app"..and wants me to log in to facebook website.....very annoying....

how can i stop this occuring everytime I reboot phone?

by jlazz78 ‎25-02-2014 08:30 PM

Will the Galaxy S4 receive 4.4?

by JustinMarando ‎25-02-2014 08:53 PM

With the 4.3 update for S3 I'm unable to add lock screen widgets as desired. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, when is Vodafone going to allow the default apps in the bottom dock be customised? I want to add my camera app.
