We know how much you love to have the latest software on your phone and we love to get it to you. But, we can't always get it to you as quickly as you'd like. What we can do is keep you in the loop throughout the process. This weekly wrap is our way of doing that.

Stuff you need to know about software updates

Just as we don't make the phones we sell, we don't code the software that runs on them. We do some testing to make sure they work as we expect them to, but that's all there is to our part in the process.

Software updates are complicated, and there's a lot of moving parts to take into account (enough to fill three whole blog posts). But that's for us to worry about, not you.
We'll do the hard work behind the scenes like chasing our suppliers and doing the testing. The easy stuff is letting you know how we're progressing, and that's where this post and the table below comes in.

News from overseas

All the info we have on the updates we know about is below. Keep in mind though that this just for us here at Vodafone AU.
What happens overseas doesn't apply locally, so that info on a UK release or news about Android 4.4 KitKat you read on the web won't be coming to your phone straight away.
As soon as we hear news though, this is the place to read all about it. I'll be back for you again next week so stay tuned if what you're looking for isn't here yet.

What's in the labs?

How come the Galaxy Nexus 4.3 update was cancelled for Vodafone, even though it's already deploying for the Telstra Galaxy Nexus?

by abcpigeon ‎13-03-2014 06:27 PM - edited ‎14-03-2014 12:48 AM

not sure who to blame as optus and telstra users both received the updates already...

not buying another samsung product again after this experience using the galaxy nexus.

lost faith in both companies

Im not complaining about Vodafone. :smileyhappy: My problem is "testing scheduled".

Hi @atul27@mutlu and@JulianBravo

Once testing has been completed and the software is approved, we'll be in a better position to confirm the release date.

how about 4.4.2 kitkat update for Note 3? the updates has been rolling out since January in different countries :smileysad: I hope Samsung will release it already :smileysad: very sad :smileysad:

by androiduser97 ‎14-03-2014 02:36 PM

Hi Vodafone!.

Why is the HTC One still waiting for scheduled release? Is it because the HTC One Android 4.4.2 update suspended?

by Community Expert ‎14-03-2014 04:21 PM

Hi @androiduser97

It just means Vodafone is waiting for the  FOTA dates from HTC . HTC is probably preparing the update for FOTA. IF it is suspended it will be mentioned as suspended :smileyhappy: Cheers.

by dtaleee ‎14-03-2014 06:18 PM
@kjmci does this mean that there will be no updates on my phone in the future and will stay at jellybean 4.1.2?
by ysharma722 ‎15-03-2014 05:29 AM
Are we ever gonna see in testing or testing completed in sony xperia m coloumn ..... :-(
by captbonus ‎15-03-2014 06:52 PM

How the heck do you go from having 4.3 ready for the Nexus to be rolled out and testing completed (for close to 3 weeks mind you) to letting Samsung cancel on you? Grow a spine Vodafone and demand they release it, all the work has already been done.

by akkush ‎15-03-2014 08:00 PM - edited ‎15-03-2014 08:00 PM

Dont blame Vodafone. They are "end users" ,like you. Hate the devs behind android and the manufacturer of your cellphone. :smileyhappy:
