From 1:00pm today, 24th August 2012 – Samsung began roll out of the Android 4.0.4 Maintenance Release 2 update for GALAXY S III handsets sold by Vodafone in Australia.
The update is released in a staggered process, which means not everybody can update at the same time.
This is a maintenance release and is designed to address some small bugs and introduce minor features. Your day to day experience with your device will broadly remain the same.
The update is available either using Wireless Upgrade (OTA) or by synchronising with Samsung Kies.
Visit our Support Knowledgebase for full instructions on what’s included in this update and how to install it to your device.

hooray! this was a nice surprise..now to see if it fixes the music player bug..
Awesome, Downloading right now
Yeah this was a nice surprise! Let's see how it rolls
Is there a change log so we know what the update actually fixes?
Hi Vlad, as outlined above you can visit our Support Knowledgebase for full instructions on what’s included in this update and how to install it to your device.
My S3 after the update is just stuck on quickflix installing apps???help!?
hope it fixes the bug where the keypad pops up BEHIND the menu when opened in a call... kind of anoying ;-) Keep the updates rolling.
Yep it's fixed!!!!!! YAYAY
Hi Brett, great to hear the glitch has been fixed for you! I'm still exploring the update myself but let me know if you find any other improvements beyond what's in this support article and I'll arrange to have it updated.
Is there a timeframe as to when the update will be released for everyone?
Hi Ahmato, the full roll-out schedule is detailed in the support article.
That's for the reply. I hope I'm not among those that have to wait 14 days.
Crap.I got the OTA update. Downloaded it. It failed to install.Did it again, failed to update againNow it says no update availableJumped onto keisand kies dont show no update eitherSad Face
Hi Sad Face, that's some tough luck! I'd be pretty upset too. Unfortunately it appears that the 10,000 user cap has been reached in record time. The next batch will be released at 1:00PM on Monday as per the roll out schedule.
Dam that sucksWasted 180mb downloading that twiceShouldnt it have saved it to my device or something to install later, cause thats what is said after downloadingInstall later or now,If not i wont bother with this BS and just root my sgs3 and put jellybean on it
Hi Sad Face, don't worry about your data allowance as if you're using a Vodafone SIM within Australia it won't have been deducted from your monthly allowance. Because you attempted the install and it failed, the previously downloaded package would have been deleted. If you had simply deferred the update by saying "later" it would have remained.
As I mentioned, the update will next be available on Monday at 1:00PM.
Same thing happened to me, OTA update failed,But just now at 4:10pm keis updated it for me. I must be lucky
Is the 10000 limit only apply to OTA or Keis as well?
Thanks Kieran, didnt notice that link thought it was just a generic Support Page
Initially I had a similar problem...with the added mix that i am a Red Bull Mobile customer (vodafone network). I saw the OTA update notification; started to downloaded over 3G - inititated this then stoped it and thought i would do it at home later. Then when i got home I did another check...said no update available. I tried Wifi...no update available. I sort of thought I ok maybe i stuffed it up by stoping it. First tried to call vodafone customer support ; the lady there had the simplistic view (&no knowledge red bull works on vodafone network) that if i wasn't a vodafone customer the update wouldn't reach me the same etc...so i went to the TWO vodafone shops at northland. i had 4.0.4 showing on my device but wanted to check the kernel versions of the phones in store ( since this was a maintenance update). SO anyways needless to say the staffs technical knowledge was close to irrelevant on this but i was told ..try factory reset & the samsung kies update Reset didn't work at a time after midnight...in the early minutes of saturday morning...i did a kies check & there's an update available so it seems KIES is capable of handling more then the 10.000 downloads as the file is on a central server and is downloaded through your net connection. Now i need to charge my phone from 47% to something a bit more meaty...also i'd like to say for those of you thinking about jelly bean update...(won't come for A WHILE) don't rush out and just get it as obviously the adobe flash support wont be "official". thanks voda for maintenance release.
great one,got rid of the lock screen swipe lag.but noticed that i can't change the bottom 4 shortcuts next to applications icon anymore by long tap on them.is it a bug or the way it's meant to be.
Hi Kieran,I have updated to LH1 via Kies today and am liking the bug fixes and the brightness bar in the notification drop down. The only thing that i am not liking is the inability to edit the Home Dock apps. I dont know if its a bug or if the update has removed this feature but itis really annoying as i can't customize the apps i actually use and place them on the dock bar.I can edit the lock screen apps through settings but not the actual dock apps...Any info would be great, Thanks.
noticed the same issue! it seems it is a bug in AU firmware samsung has provided to vodafone as the NZ version of the same update seems to work fine with the ability to edit both your dock icons and your home screen! really annoying though! The only good thing for me is that it didn't change my customisations on the dock from before so I still have those icons from before update but no more customisation!!!!
aaaaah! no notification. no update yet
