The file size is about 14MB and it will be free to download for Vodafone customers.
Good news for HTC Desire HD users with the roll out of Android 2.3.3 ‘Gingerbread’ by HTC from today with a staggered release across all users over the next couple weeks.
This means, over the next couple of weeks you'll get a notification on your smartphone to update to the newer software. So don't worry if you don't get the update today.
Package size is about 103MB
Due to the file size we recommend updating your Desire HD via WiFi connection
HTC have not launched any devices running Android version 2.3.4. Due to this, the HTC Desire HD will be receiving the 2.3.3 upgrade for VF Global in Europe, hence the same for Australia.
I just updated it, and so far I think it's amazing!!! simple changes but it's made a big difference
Will users who got their Desire HDs from 3 mobile also get the FOTA upgrade?
will this only for vodafone?not for the three customers ?
Yes they will
Glad you're liking it Jaydin
Any update for Samsung Galaxy S? I am a Three customer. I hope since your are releasing HTC HD update for both networks you will do the same for Samsung Galaxy S. Will it be 2.3.4 or 2.3.3?
Please Give me back the GSM only option in the settings. Where i live 3g Drops out all the time and with auto the battery life is soo bad.
OK, why cant we use HTC Sync after upgrade. Can you please let us know.
Better late than never I suppose. Just manually went into my settings > about phone > system software updates and manually did a scan and it found the OTA.Cheers
Hello folks, Why does not HTC sync work with the 2.3.3 update? Can you please help
Would i lose all the installed apps? like factory reset? after firmware upgrade?
Tip for others: if you have the phone plugged-in during install, then unplug it to get the touch screen working properly again after the install. I couldn't get the 'screen locked' to respond to touch until it was unplugged. G'luck.
There are one or two annoying UI/sound tweaks but it is SOOO worth it just for the ridiculous speed improvements.
This version has removed option to put the phone in GSM ONLY mode. Where I live is just 5k from Brisbane CBD still I do not get 3G signal in my home and I used to have my phone in GSM only at home to get consistent bars.Unfortunately I do not have this option anymore .Having said that there is an AUTO mode, it is nearly useless unless you happy to get disconnected any time during voice calls. As it keeps hoping from 3G to GSM and when that occurs it loses the network for few seconds. AUTO mode reduces the battery life significantly as well.Plz restore the GSM ONLY mode.
Sorry mate, i haven't received any news regarding updates for the Milestone 2 , but if we do, we'll make an update
My understanding, you will, so back up just in case.
Another tip: Force your calendar to 1 year ahead, say 2012 & do a system update scan again. It'll update.
No you don't. Surprisingly it keeps everything intact including your apps and settings.
Got my DHD updated last night, so far very satisfy with the new version. Every thing goes smoother and more responsible. Like all those minor change! Thanks HTC and VHA!
Just a question, the weather does not update anymore. Only shows the current location but no weather info. Keep giving me an error message says that the connection dropped. Is there any one have this problem? I like the weather app, the problem is so annoying.... Plz help!
Good move Vodafone. I upgraded mine last night. All the bugs fixed. It works very smooth. Cheers
Anyone have any issues with wifi or sending sms after the update?
Hi Danny Liu,Mine is the same. Plus Picasa web albums won't sync anymore. Otherwise, nice and fast. For the clock, download the Weatherzone app. It includes a clock widget. Not quite as nice but more accurate!
Really wish it still had the GSM only feature, constantly losing signal (and battery life) at home and work!
