Yet another SIM swap question

Message 1 of 8 (955 Views)

Hi,

I've lost my SIM. I have a number of unactivated $2 prepaid SIMs, so I logged in to My Vodafone and requested a SIM swap. I entered in the 896xxx SIM number, the system said it will be processed within a few hours. That was a few days ago and I haven't heard back. How is this meant to work?

Thanks

Hi eug,

Have you tried to activate that prepaid sim for an existing prepaid number?

If the sim swap had processed properly then you're right, it should only have taken a couple of hours maximum.

What is the coverage area on the phone showing when the new sim is inside, (no service, sos only)

And what type of phone is it?

Looking forward to your reply,

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I haven't tried activating the SIM for any other number - I just opened the pack and entered in the SIM number into My Vodafone.

The phone shows a signal, and when I try to dial a number, I get a Voda announcement saying thank you for choosing prepaid etc etc. It's a Nokia 8800.

Thanks!

Hey Eug,

Is the device you are trying to do the sim swap for a pre paid or post paid service?

Thank you,

Bree

Hi eug,

Thanks for posting back eug!

All of our Prepaid SIM's come attached with a number which might be confusing the issue with the swap with a post paid number.  Would it be possible to pop into a Vodafone store and get a completely blank SIM card?  The staff will also be able to to the swap for you in store and you should be activated between 15mins and 3 hours.

If it's not possible for you to get to a store then I can make some other arrangements for you, just let me know.

Cheers,

Dana.

I finally made it to a vodafone store on Monday and got a new SIM on the spot. Fortunately there were no queues at the time.

Thanks!
