I am using pocket wifi, my speeds NEVER go above 200kbps and are rearly above 100kbps. I am supposedly in a 3g area but I am always stuck with hsupa. What are the minimum speeds vodafone must provide? How can I exit my contract if these speeds do not improve?

Hi newbey1renee,
I am using pocket wifi, my speeds NEVER go above 200kbps and are rearly above 100kbps. I am supposedly in a 3g area but I am always stuck with hsupa. What are the minimum speeds vodafone must provide? How can I exit my contract if these speeds do not improve?
I can certainly appreciate how annoying it must be to get low data speeds especially when you are trying to load webpages and they are going very slowly. I will gladly look into this and see if I can get you up and running with some improved speeds.
To investigate further would it be possible to get your suburb or postcode? This way I can check what frequency is available in your area. You can also check this on our coverage checker as to what reception you should be receiving on the Pocket WiFi device. Is it always around the same sort of speeds or are there times when it's faster?
There are some troubleshooting techniques that we can go through to see if the speeds improve for you. These include things such as:
1. Popping the SIM from the Pocket WiFi into a handset. This will rule out whether it is a SIM or device issue.
2. Moving the device closer to a window. This will just indicate whether the network isn't strong enough to get through areas in your house.
3. Trying a SIM swap. Some older SIM's can become faulty or even unstable, especially if we have done some network improvements in the area. A SIM swap can be done in any our Vodafone stores free of charge.
You can find the minimum network speeds here and if you don't see any improvements then I can definitely look into it further and come up with some options for you.
Please let me know and I will be happy to investigate further to get you some results.
Cheers,
Dana.

Hi Renee,

I will try putting the Sim into my phone today and let you know how that goes.
How did you go popping your SIM card in to your phone?

I have tried placing the wifi next to a window and it makes no difference.
Thanks for letting me know that you've tried placing your Pocket WiFi next to a window to no avail. Do you have a Pocket WiFi 2, or the original Pocket WiFi? You'll be able to tell if it's a Pocket WiFi 2, as there is a '2' printed on the front of the device. The reason I have asked this, is that the Pocket WiFi 2 has 850MHz compatibility and may benefit you.

I live in Headedness WA 6054
So I can have a better idea of the coverage in your area, can you pop your full address in to the coverage checker that Dana has linked you to in her above post, and let me know how many dots are in each field? The post code 6054 doesn't list Headedness as a suburb, so if possible can you please let me know the name of a neighbouring suburb?

Hi Dana,
I do get slightly better speeds when I turn my iPhone into a hotspot, but even then it never reaches the 300kbps.
Are you using a Vodafone SIM with the iPhone? It would be really helpful to know what the speeds are like using the internet on your iPhone in the same location. This will indicate whether there could be an problem with your Pocket WiFi itself.
Once I receive your reply with the information above, I'll be able to look in to this further for you and get your Pocket WiFi up and running the way it should be.
Regards,
Sarah.
