new pocket wifi2 very very bad speed

Message 1 of 2 (372 Views)

I just upgraded to the pocketwifi2 because Vodafone assured me it was faster speed.

I tried to download a movie that was 2.89GB and it was so slow it took over 12 hours and it took more than 2.89GB of my usuage to download in the first place and I had no other internet programs running in the background

Now I have gone over my usage as it used half my monthly usage just to download it even though the movie was less

not good enough vodafone

Hey EilyH,

It's definitely possible for the Pocket WiFi 2 to be faster then the first version. This is because the Pocket WiFi 2 can utilise our 850MHz 3G network, where the Pocket WiFi 1 cannot.

If you're in an area where the 850 network is the strongest, then we would expect your speeds to improve when moving from a Pocket WiFi 1 to a Pocket WiFi 2. Are you finding that your new Pocket WiFi is not as fast as your old one?

How did you download the movie? The speeds that you get when downloading will not only depend on the speed of your network connection, but also the site or program you're using to download the file.

If you download files using a torrent client for example, then you'll find that you will be downloading and uploading (known as 'seeding') at the same time. Your uploads are also counted as part of your monthly data quota, which means that whilst the movie you downloaded may have been 2.89GB, you will have also uploaded a portion of it as well.

Please let me know. I'm keen to get to the bottom of this with you.

Thanks,

Nick
