We can certainly look into this further to find out what it is that has slowed your connection.

To help us find the cause of this problem, could I ask you to have a look at our Troubleshooting FAQ - Part III here and post the results here in this thread?

That information will give us the specific information we need to help get this resolved quickly for you.  I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Thanks,

Jerome

Hi Jerome,

Here is what you have requested:

Part A:

Postcode:3022

Suburb: Ardeer

Service difficulties (Call drops, Unable to send SMS, slow data speeds, No signal ETC): Slow speeds

Time of day (AM/PM, times , be specific): all the time

How long has it been occurring: about 2 weeks

Any other Vodafone users identified the same issues?:  Not that i know of.

Part B:

Mobile Device in use: vodafone mobile broadband model k3571-z

Device used for isolation test: swapped it into my mobile (seemed fine)

How long have you had the device? : about a year and a half

Any other comments: Telstra mobile broadband is used in same area with no problems!

Took me over an hour and 40 minutes to download 40MB lecture for school!

Thanks

Thank you very much for providing the information from our troubleshooting guide, this has given me a much better idea of what's going on.

What phone did you pop your SIM in to during the isolation test? Given that the internet was fine when you put your SIM in your phone, this indicates that it may be your modem causing the problem. The k3571 modem that you're using is not an 850MHz compatible device, which is why you may be getting better results when using the SIM in your phone.

If you're not sure what I'm referring to when I mention the 850MHz network, it is designed to provide you with a much stronger indoor connection. You can view more information here.

The 850MHz connection is much stronger in your area, so you would benefit from an 850MHz compatible device. You can check out the devices we have available here.

If you'd like, I can arrange for someone from our sales team to give you a call to discuss purchasing a new device, or you can pop in to your local Vodafone store. If you'd like to go in to store, you can find your closest one here.

If you'd like me to arrange a call for you, I'll need some account details from you via email. I have sent you a private message containing my email address and information that I'll need from you. You can access your private messages by clicking on the small envelope in the top right hand corner of this page, or by clicking on this link.

Regards,

Sarah.

Hey Loz,

If you're not sure where your nearest Vodafone store is, you can find it using the Store Locator on our website, by clicking here.

You can order a new modem online, through our Online Store, here, or over the phone with our Direct to You sales team on 1300 650 410. You may want to look at a Pocket WiFi, as these work well in most locations, and especially in areas with 850MHz coverage.

Alternatively, I'd be happy to arrange for one of our Direct to You team to give you a call, at a time of your choosing. I've sent you a PM with my email address, which you can access by following the link here. If you email through your details, I'll arrange for someone to give you a call.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to let us know. We're here to help.

Cheers,

Nick

*sighs*

I bought a new dongle from my local vodafone shop... they had great difficulty trying to get it in.

With the new dongle i have NO BETTER speeds, even though this one is meant to be 850 network ready.

So, i've bought a telstra one... works like it is supposed to.... Fast Speeds.

Now i'm just using up the last of my data on stuff that i don't need to download ASAP...

never to return to vodafone.

Sorry, but the time/money wasted already is just not economically worth me messing around with this network anymore.

Also the local shop tried to hassle me into 1. Wifi... I have a CPU tower, not a laptop. why would i want wifi.. They just kept telling me that wifi was better?!?!?!

AND then they tried to sign me up to a contact. Telling me that i would have better speeds... I told them there was no way in hell i would sign a contact with them as with the speed i was getting i'd get nothing done on the net.

If your new dongle doesn't improve your speeds at all, it's likely that there are other issues at play.

You mention you've got a desktop computer. When you tested your SIM in a phone, did you sit the phone in the same place as the USB modem usually plugs in to the computer?

The reason I ask is that, often, your CPU tower sits in a corner, or near a wall, which causes the signal to your device to be blocked or inhibited. To help minimise this effect, a good idea is to plug the USB modem in to your computer via a USB extension chord. This can allow you to move the modem around a bit to help avoid obstructions to the signal.

That's correct.

In areas where coverage is marginal, or obstructed, a Pocket WiFi will help. The Pocket WiFi will generally pick up a stronger signal than a USB modem. In addition, because the Pocket WiFi is wireless (as the name suggests) it can be moved around until it's getting the strongest signal, and still provide a WiFi signal to your computer for it to connect to.

Whether you have a laptop or a desktop shouldn't affect your choice between a Pocket WiFi or a USB modem. Both the Pocket WIFi and the USB modem will work on either a laptop or a desktop, but with the Pocket WiFi you also get the choice of plugging directly in to your computer, or using it wirelessly.

Hope that helps to clears thing up for you. Let us know.

Cheers,

Nick

To every 1 who was made to move to from 3 to vodafone, Now sees how bad they really are and this been going on for years, Its 1 thing to take over from 3 but leave us on there towers not yours, Gone from 5 bars no issue for 5yrs and then go to vodafone and get 1 or 2 which funny enough works better then there 5 bars as people will see, OH and i do have a vodafone usb modem also and had it for awhile to and its the same yrs ago to now, Crap. U should listen to customers and if u would listen to us, Move vodafone ips or towers login and use 3. You would get alot less people writeing about how bad there internet is. ITs nothing to do with 850hz bla bla all the same stuff u go on about, We only had 2100hz with 3 modem and worked perfect, Tryd your modem, drop out after drop out. So ill be ring to end my contract with u asap, EVERY! do the same ,till vodafone get there ***** together and dont put up with it, its your money and your get run around from them blameing it on this and that. Just a update to all also, Vodafone have send they  know  they have had issues with internet and cant solve the problem, Was told that by vodafone guy and beacause of this. They and optus will join together next yr ? and hope that changes it for them. I hope for optus they dont go down to what vodafone has to offer. VODAFONE no need to reply to me as ive heard it b4.
