Message 1 of 3 (2,602 Views)

I want to take my laptop and pocket Wifi with me overseas, will the pocket wifi still work?? i know most hotels have free wifi but want to be able to use it on the road.

I know with my Moblie sim i had to get it change to internation roaming is this the case with the wifi too??? also will it have the same crazy charges like when you make or recieve mobile calls while overseas??

Roaming data would be pretty expensive.  What about unlocking your modem and using local SIM cards?  If you do that, you'll need to alter the APN and one or two things, but that's easy.  Which model Pocket Wifi do you have?  The later model covers three 3G bands, the earlier one only two.

Hi Sitay85,

Peter has suggested a good idea above and this is definitely one of your options.

If you decide to keep your Vodafone sim in the device while you're overseas then using wifi is certainly another option.

We offer roaming data bundles which can be added to mbb devices, more info here: http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/international-roaming/email-internet-overseas/index.htm

To use these you would also have to request to have roaming activated on the mbb number if it wasn't already active.

If you have roaming active but no roaming data plan added then you can expect to get charged 1 cent per KB.

If there is anything else that we can do for you then please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a great trip!
