Re: Lied To By Vodafone!!!

Message 11 of 17 (650 Views)

So i'm not the only one ready to smash my pocket wifi and block vodafone from billing my account! I have been with vmc for about 4 years and in this time i have had so many issues with the poor network coverage and speeds here in Bundaberg i'm concidering switching to Optus as when i tether my Optus phone i get a good reliable connection with lightning fast speed, but i got scammed into upgrading to this wifi crap and since then my ***** service has become unusable and have no option but to stop my bank from paying vodafone any more money and jump ships! Grrrr!

im actually filing a complaint with the telecommunications ombudsman with all that is happening and demanding that my contract be cancelled with all that has happened to me and my sister over the past 2 months of signing into vodafone.

a Vodafone employee just insinuated that we were lying about an excess bandwidth usage, 3.5gigs in 2 days of my plan bill cycle. My sister has been with 3 for 9 years, and i have been with 3 for 5 years with no issues until we got trapped by their retention team into staying. Biggest mistake ever.

I can definitely appreciate that it's frustrating when something doesn't work the way it should, and I'd like to help you find a solution to your issue.

I've taken a look at our Coverage Map and can see that Bundaberg is best serviced by our 900MHz network frequency. Now whilst the Pocket WiFi does cover the 900MHz frequency, it tends to work best when there is 850MHz available. Some devices just work better in certain areas.

You mention that you recently upgraded to the Pocket WiFi. What where you using before that? And did you get better data speeds using the old device?

It would be great if you could test your SIM in your old mobile broadband device to see if the speeds you get are better than those you're achieving on the Pocket WiFi. If you find that your old device works better well in your area, is it possible to continue using that device?

Please let me know how you go testing your SIM in your old broadband device. I am keen to continue working with you until we've found a resolution that you're happy with.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Kandetta,

I'd love to help you to work out what's gone on and find a solution with you. If you've already been in contact with the TIO then a member of our Resolutions Team will be in contact within 10 business days to sort out a solution with you.

There are many factors and features that will affect how much data you use on your phone. This includes things like: system and application updates, automatic backup to cloud servers like Dropbox or iCloud, tethering or personal WiFi hotspot.

It's also important to note that smartphones will often use data, even when you aren't actively browsing the Internet. This is because many of the functions and features are constantly checking the web to download and check for things like updates.

We've got a Data Troubleshooting page on our website which runs through these and a number of other factors too. It would be great if you could check out the guide by following this link, to see if any of the factors mentioned may be affecting you and causing the extra usage.

You also mention that you've just come across from 3. As part of the move to Vodafone, did you upgrade your phone at all? Even small changes to your phone or service can make a difference to your data usage. A new phone for example, may need to update itself when you get it, or you may install a bunch of apps as soon as you get the phone, both of which require data.

We recommend keeping track of your usage throughout the month, to help ensure that things like this don't happen. You can track your usage quickly and easily directly from your smartphone, using the My Vodafone app available from the app store for most smartphones.

You can also log in to My Vodafone via the website, here.

Please have a look through the data troubleshooting I mention above and let me know if any of the features/functions may be causing your extra usage. I'm keen to help you work out why this is happening.

Thanks,

Nick

I swapped sim with various types of modems and phones and all fail, so i'm using wifi 5 bars signal strength but only less than 1 kbps speed and very intermittent service. theres nothing left to do but shutdown this service.

Thanks for testing your SIM in other devices.

I understand your situation is frustrating and I'd really love to work with you to find a suitable solution.

I can see you've got another post in the Community, here, which I've just replied to. It would be fantastic if you could follow up on that post and run through some troubleshooting to help us get to the bottom of this.

We're keen to help, so please let us know how you go.

Thanks,

Nick
