Data bundle, Bill Shock

Message 1 of 5 (475 Views)

Hi Vodafone,

I'm using 29$ plan with Iphone4. I check my vodafone app for account balance regularly. On monday, I still had around 180 MB available, but on tuesday, my vodafone app showed that I had exceeded 437$ of data bundle. I freaked out, because I was not received any notification when the quota reached the limit and I check my vodafone app frequently to make sure I don't use up my quota. When on 3G, I only use google map apps, read news, never download anything, normally I never over used in previous months  . I called customer care (1555), but they provided no solution for me. As a student, I am not able to pay 437$+40$ (plan) for a month.

Hope someone can help here!

I think this is a really common problem and i believe that voda should set up a way to disable data after the usage allowance is reached instead of us having to use a thrid party app to do it... Or maybe they should make an app for Iphone and Android (and wp7 but their not as important lol)

Look their will be a member along to help you shortly just hold in there.. There are always alternatives for people who cant afford to pay crazy bills. Voda has a finacial hardship policy. so dont worry I'm sure you can organise something.

I posted to reassure you not to panic and just be confident and i also wanted to put past you the possibilty of getting an additional data pack. their not expensive but may save you later on.Data Packs

I mean even a $5 pack would be fine for you .. It gives you more leeway and less to worry and 5 bucks isnt to much extra.

Thank you for your advice, normally, I had never use up my 200 MB quota that's why I don't by 5$ extra, but I would do it next month as a safety margin. This is really crazy :smileysad:

MMM yea sometimes it happens to the best of us... Except me cause i have a crazy huge data usage lol

Look your best bet is a third party app like i mentioned earlier..

I have an android on ICS and they have an automatic feature where you enter how much your data limit is and it prevents you from going over... So when you reach a certain amount it warns you then when it reaches another amount it stops data usage completly..

I know iphone has a DATA monitor that resets during a period of time you set. But i dont think it has a function that stops all data once you reach a certain point. If you like i can find you an app that will??

Checking your usage via  the MyVodafone app or website and calling us when you have unexpectedly high charges is exactly the right thing to do. I'm sorry we weren't able to provide a solution when you called, and I'd love to help sort this out for you.

As zabzabcanfly69 has mentioned, adding a data pack is a good way to help minimise excess usage charges, and our $5 pack is great value. Thanks for linking to the data packs zabzabcanfly!

I can discuss your options with you, but we're not able to share your details here in our Community. I've sent you a Private Message (PM) with my email address, and the info I'll need to help. You can access your PMs by clicking on the envelope icon in the top right of your screen, or here.

You might also be interested in balance alerts - these send you a txt message when your unbilled usage exceeds more than $100 over your plan. They're quick and easy to set up using MyVodafone - just follow the steps online here. There's also an article covering how to identify the causes of high data charges on a smart phone that contains some really great information here.

If you have any questions about setting up balance alerts or adding a data pack to your account please let me know - I can help!

Thanks,

Kirsty.
