'call charge' and ' charged amount'

Hi, I recently changed from 3 to Vodafone and I'm wondering if you could help me in understanding that online self service system.

1) Underneath 'Usage details'  There are columns for ' Call charge' and 'Charged amount'

Are the amount shown in 'Call charges'  the ones that I have spent within my $180 credit from my $29 plan and anything I have spent above my   $180 credit capping will show there?

2)  I see there's a 'call charge' says $1.24 and $0.00 in 'Charged amount' for a 14secs call. I just wanted to find out how is that caculation. I am with the $29 plan and I thought every one minute was 98cents +38cents flag fall? How is that $1.24 caculated?

3) There's also an int'l text msg charge of $0.27 shown in 'Call charge' . I've never made int'l txt yet. Judging from the number, I think it's from the UK. (+447537410230) I wonder what that is, if you could check?  Thank you

I reckon I could answer 2 of your questions. Smiley Happy

1) Short answer: Yes.  "Call charges" are what your calls actually cost, "Charged amount" would show anything that was not included in your cap (such as excess calls or excluded call types)

2) It's 98c per minute (or part therof) + 38c flagfall, inc GST. The $1.24 is the ex-GST figure.

3) Can't help you with the international txt number, but it's charged at the same rate as those sent to Australian numbers.

Hi, I think I can answer this one a bit better. I have this exact number sent from my phone and others. I have no record on my phone of this SMSs and I have noticed it is being sent at the exact time I insert my SIM card into my phone and it establishes contact with the phone network. My phone is a iPhone 3GS running on IOS 5. This smells of a security hole as it only started happening after I updated my iPhone to IOS 5. Here is a list of numbers that have been sent from my phone for record:

Further update...I have managed to isolate that the hidden SMS is only sent when iMessage is turned On. When I have had it turned off and re-inserted the SIM card no SMS was sent but when I flicked the switch to turn iMessage on an SMS charge was recorded against my summary of charges for the exact time turned that it was turned on. Question is: why does it need to send an SMS to an international number in the UK.
