Stolen Phone

Message 1 of 5 (381 Views)

Hello,

We have had our iphone stolen.  Unfortunately it was not insured.

Is it possible to obtain a new SIM card and keep my mobile number on my existing contract?

I rang the call centre to have this question answered but experienced some difficulty understanding the operator, hence I am posting my question on this forum.

Is anyone able to help me?

Many thanks.

Hey ahefara

Yeah it's totally possible. Just drop into a VF store and ask for a SIM swap. They'll give you a new SIM and activate your number onto it.

I recommend calling back and having your number/s barred for calls and data - you don't want someone picking up your phones and going mental with charges. Also, if you have the IMEIs still, see if you can get them to black-list them. I think iTunes stores the IMEIs.

Hope this helps!

Also, when you re-activate the numbers onto new SIMs don't forget to have them remove call and data barring at the same time.

Thanks so much Gorstrom!!

I found the IMEI and I will go to a VF store and do a SIM swap and hopefully get them to blacklist the IMEI number.

Anytime! Also, if you had "Find my iPhone" installed, go to www.icloud.com and log in with your apple account, you MAY be lucky and find it located via GPS... no promises though it didn't find my phone today... luckily it was in my car lol.
