Hi,

I'll be moving over (this July) to Australia for 1 and a half years as a international student and I plan on signing up for a contract with a vodafone plan.

I'm currently looking at a 1 year plan for the HTC One X ($49 + $20). What documents do I need for a new plan and the credit check? What does the credit check entail? How long will the process take?

My student visa is valid from now till March 2014

That's great to hear that you are looking at signing up with us for the time you will be in Australia! I would love to look into this and see what we can do for you.

The HTC One X is an awesome device, I have recently purchased on and I love it!

To apply for a contract we will require your Passport details, Student Card details and also an Australian Bank statement or other form of proof of address within Australia. I understand that you will not have a proof of address just yet however, once you are in Australia and have received this, I will be able to arrange for one of my colleagues to give you a call.

The credit check entails Vodafone receiving information from Dunn & Bradstreet and Veda advantage credit bureau to access to application, basically they will run a credit file check similar to if you were applying for a loan. 

The process will take around 15 minutes to get all the details from you,  then it gets sent to the credit department where it can take anywhere from right away to half an hour to receive a reply.

I have sent you a private message with my contact details so that I can grab a couple of details off of you to arrange a call when you're in Australia to get this credit check process underway.

I also live in Sandy Bay, and I don't experience any problems in the area at all! You should check out this restaurant in Sandy Bay called Written On Tea, it's fantastic!
