Message 1 of 7 (846 Views)

Hi, I have contract with Cap $Au 29 on my BB Curve 9300. Before upgrade to OS 6, I still used and saw BB Maps, But now it isn't working and disappear. So I have some problems with BB data plan or my device?

It sounds like there may have been an error when you updated to the BlackBerry OS 6. I suggest checking if the the BlackBerry Maps application has been deleted from your phone, which you can do by selecting Options>Advanced Options> Applications.

If the BlackBerry Map no longer shows through applications I suggest backing up your phones data and completing a full factory restore, as this will ensure your phone has all the native applications installed and working.

Please let me know how this goes.

Thanks,

Cait

Hi,

I still found BB Maps on Options/Applications. I read in other forums which told that BB data plan is necessary for BB Maps. So, Do I need to register BB data plan.

You shouldn't need to do this, as you've already been able to download the application and use it before the software update. Can you please try the below steps for me and let me know if it is already installed or if it needs to be downloaded?

Open Desktop Manager with your handset plugged into your computer

Clicks Applications on the left hand side (Installed Apps and modules appear on the right hand side)

Find BlackBerry maps in the list, and click the plus symbol on the right to select the app for installation if not already installed.

Please let me know how you go.

Thanks,

Bree

Hi,

Status of BB maps in the BB desktop software is ' installed'

Now I've got more problem when trying to downgrade to OS 5.0

Fristly, I can't find BB maps and BB application as well on my handle, although these status are 'installed' in the BB desktop software

Secondly, I can't upgrade to OS 6.0 any more. The box presents that:

"There was an error updateing your software

This BlackBerry® Device Software upgrade includes new features and significant enhancements to the BlackBerry® solution and, as such, is only available to users with an active BlackBerry subscription. To learn more about BlackBerry® service, please visit www.blackberry.com/service."

Thanks for trying the reset and the software update. If the OS 6.0 version failed you'd most likely still be on the most recent software version that was successfully updated being the OS 5.0. This would explain why you're having trouble with the downgrade as you could already be running this version.

You mentioned in your first post to us that you're on a $29 plan with your Blackberry Curve, is that correct? The first thing that springs to mind with this is that the unlimited Blackberry (BB) data does not come as standard with this plan. I used to have the BB Bold myself and I found that most of the services and Apps that I wanted to use required this feature. Once I had the unlimited BB data the Internet on the phone worked amazingly. This will help you access BB maps too!

Have you changed from a higher plan in the past to the $29? You mentioned BB Maps only stopped working recently for you. Our $49 Plan is the lowest price pointed service that comes with the included unlimited BB data. On a lower plan such as the $29 you would need to add a BB pack which costs an additional $10 per month over 12 months or $20 per month on a casual basis. Do you have one of these packs currently or have you had one in the past?

If you're service doesn't have the BB pack added this would most likely be why the OS 6.0 isn't installing. I can certainly have a chat with you to look at either adding one of our BB packs or upgrading your plan to one that includes this feature. So that we can talk  further could you please send me an email with a few extra details? I've sent you a Private Message here with my contact details and the info I'll need from you.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon and continuing to work together on this.

Cheers,

Madeleine
