Hi,

My vodafone mobile (Xperia Z) won't connect to my vodafone wifi (pocket wifi). It does connect to all other wifi networks when I have tried - just not my own at home. How can I fix this?

thanks

Hi @thompsonjasmine ,

Does your Xperia Z detect the network, but simply won't then connect?

If so do you get an error message on the phone?

Cheers,

Hi,

It detects the network then I enter the key, it says connected then it says there is an authentication problem.

thanks,

Hi @thompsonjasmine ,

My first thought is a problem with the key.

Have you tried hitting the "Forget" button for the network, and then reentering the key?

The other option is the settings on the wifi modem itself... it may be set to only allow access to specific devices.

Are other devices able to connect to this modem?

What make/model of modem is it?

Cheers,

Thanks for your help.

Yeah I've tried hitting forget - numerous times and re-entering. My old iphone connected to the network, our galaxy tab connects, so does our tv and other people who visit can connect just not my phone.

It's only a little vodafone pocket wifi, I'm not sure how to check the settings to make sure my phone can access it.

thanks.

How many devices have you allowed to connect from the Pocket WiFi? Have you checked this setting from that devices end?

Also, maybe you can add in all the MAC addresses of the devices you want to connect?

Hi @thompsonjasmine ,

Here is a link to a support article that may help:

http://support.vodafone.com.au/articles/FAQ/How-to-connect-devices-to-your-Pocket-WiFi

Have a look at that, remembering @Bippo 's comment about the number of devices connected. Many of the Vodafone devices will only allow a maximum of 5 devices.

If that article doesn't help, you will be able to work out which particular device you have and let us know. From there, we will be able to do some further troubleshooting.

Cheers,

Looks like Bippo and Balsam are on the case for you in getting that Xperia Z working with the Pocket WiFi.

It also might be worth checking that the software on the Pocket WiFi is the latest version, head over to our page here to download the latest software.
