Hi All,
Not a big problem but is quite annoying.
I have a Vodafone icon which looks like a Sim card with a cog in front of it, which is on the 3rd page under applications.
Every time I put the phone into flight mode, which I am required to do multiple times a day, the icon dissapears from the 3rd page.
The issue is when the phone comes out of flight mode the icon reappears as the last icon on whatwever the last page is (e.g. 5 or 7, etc). Which I have to manually move back to page 3 otherwise I get gaps on my apps pages.
Can I tell the icon to always reappear where it was before or not get it to show up at all? Do I need a new sim card?
It's not mentioned under Carrier Customisation in the Android Journey blog, see http://blog.vodafone.com.au/blog/the-android-softw
Cheers.

That makes it a big enough problem for us ![]()
I can shed a little light for you. What you're seeing is the icon for the applications on the sim card.
Things that exist within the Vodafone Sim itself as explained here on wikipedia.
The short answer is that when entering flight mode the SIM is not in use so the toolkit disappears. When you exit again, the phone can see the SIM Applications and the icon is restored. In your case the icon makes it's way to the end of the list (where new installations are placed).
What I can't confirm for you just now is whether that's an expected behaviour or not. I've spoken with our devices team (actually they spoke to me first) and we'll pass the question along to Samsung and see what should be occurring.
The good news is you don't need a new SIM card, but you're not able to disable the SIM toolkit. It appears on most devices, although in different places on some.
I'll let you know if we can confirm any more information for you.
Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim, thanks for your quick reply.
Since the SIM toolkit cannot be disabled, can I get a sim card with no SIM apps on the card.
I can understand why they would have been there for old phones (i.e. pre-Android days), but since Vodafone has installed Android apps/links to everything thats in the SIM application, it seems the SIM application is kind of redundant.
Cheers.

I'm afraid not. The SIM Toolkit is on all Vodafone SIM's regardless of the device it's intended for. We only offer the one type of card and for the most part they are identical. We have a lot of non Android devices in use as well.
I'll make sure the feedback is passed on though and get back to you with any news or changes.

Fair enough, thanks for that Tim.
Hopefully, Samsung can provide a solution.
Cheers.

I had the exact same problem with my sim toolkit annoying to say the least, once you set up the page how you want it then a stupid icon ruins it and you have to move things around again. What worked for me was to add a floder where I wanted the sim toolkit. Then placed the sim toolkit in the floder and it has never jumped out of it.

Thanks for the suggestion PineappleHead, however this doesn't working under ICS. It gets removed from the folder and added to the end, same as always.
