Unlock Samsung Galaxy S2

Message 1 of 91 (17,899 Views)

I've tried the vodafone.au/unlock, which is not working, I called the cutomer care, they sent an e-mail to an unlock team. However, I have to go oversea tmr morning. I need to unlock my phone asap... according to the cutomer care, they said this is a new phone so they do not have the code yet...

Please help!

Hi Eminemkh,

Thank you for taking the time to post your inquiry; the care team were exactly right, we don’t have the unlock codes available for the Galaxy S 2 just yet, but you’ve done more than we could ask with using the unlock page yourself and calling to ask. However as you are going overseas tomorrow have you considered International Roaming for your handset and use your current Sim card? This way you will not need to Unlock your handset. If you would like some more information on our International Roaming procedures and charges you can see here, you are also able to activate this via your MyVodafone account here. If you would like any further information on International Roaming please let me know as I’m happy to help.

Oh and welcome to the Community! :smileyhappy:

Cheers,

Jen.

Any expectations on when vodafone will get the codes?

It is sort of rediculous that you are selling people locked phones but not having the code to unlock it. Maybe trying to force people to use International Roaming?

I wanted to jump on the $65 infinite with the s2 although heard about this issue since I will be travelling overseas next week but wanted to use a travel sim card instead of putting it on roaming. My plan is about to end with vodafone this month. Looks like I might be back with optus if this doesn't get resolved. Really wanted to get this phone. Wonder when vodafone will fix this. One of the instore sales reps told me 2-3 months. Goodluck with that.

Hi caudex,

At this time we have escalated this issue but unfortunately as the phone is so new the codes haven't  been made available to us as yet.

International Roaming is an alternative, whilst we realise this is not an option that all our customers would like to use, Vodafone do have competitive rates for using your service overseas.  You can view all of our International Roaming rates for Traveller here.  These plans are arranged in zones for those travelling within certain country regions.  For customers travelling too one country or different countries that do not fit into a Vodafone traveller zone we have Vodafone World.  You can view the rates here.

The other option I could recommend is using an older handset that has been unlocked with a prepaid SIM for that countries service provider.  When I travelled to Hong Kong last year I took an old Nokia handset with me and used a prepaid card as well as my Vodafone SIM, which I kept with my passport.  This way if something happened to the handset ie lost or stolen it wasn't such a big issue, as I could grab a handset while over there and use my Vodafone SIM.

I do apologise that the unlock codes are not yet available and Vodafone are working on this issue unfortunately I don't have an ETA at this stage of when that may be.

Thanks,

Dana.

The codes are now available online - just got mine, but there are no instructions online as to what to do with the code!  Searching online mainly finds apps, which I don't really want to install, so VF, please provide full instructions on how to use the codes!

OK, the problem I had was that if you put in a 3 Sim, it still works for phone only on vodafone, but the data won't work - and it doesn't ask you for the network unlock code.  I had to put in a Telstra sim to get the "network unlock" entry page on startup.  All good now.

Hi Stevo123,

I have good news!  Unlock codes for Samsung Galaxy S II are now available on our unlocking page.  If you would like to speak to one of our upgrade team members about upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S II let me know and I can arrange a call back for you.

Thanks
Jemma
