It's also best to grab Navigon through Samsung Apps as it's no longer being updated through Play Store.

May help with the activation error ??

I've tried that too.
Uninstalled/reinstalled from Gplay - basic activation error
Uninstalled/removed folder/reinstalled from Gplay - same
Uninstalled/removed folder/reinstalled from Samsung Apps - new activaton error, list of device details, and a send button which sends these detals to android@navigon (from which I don't expect a response)

Very disappointed as I'm needing navigaton for an upcoming holiday - glad I checked early. I think it was the latest ics update that stuffed it - I'm at 4.0.3

OK - I found that doing a full shutdown and restart (not just a restart) has removed that activation error.
So looks like the Samsung apps version + restart, is the key

I had this error message after upgrade to ICS: "An error has occurrred. Check the network and/or internet connection".

Worked for me this way:

  1. Moved to SD card then deleted app
  2. Restarted phone
  3. Downloaded free Samsung Navigon app through Play Store. Tried Kies, complete waste of time.
  4. Navigon app automatically installed
  5. Maps require downloading again
  6. I did not apply the update from Samsung Apps

All seems to be working again

Hey Paresh, Thanks for sharing this and this worked.

This is not a bad workaround and will not take much time if you are connected to wifi.

I helped my mother buy a new Samsung Galaxy 2 phone yesterday one of the selling points for her over the iPhone (which I have) was the GPS turn by turn navigation system (navigon) which the iPhone doesn't offer. However it won't start, it opens and won't connect saying "application error" and the shuts itself down.  This is a brand new phone and I was under the impression this came installed and ready to go on the phone.  Is this not the case?

Is it because you need to be outside a building for it to work?

Rather than getting ***** off about it would someone be able to shed some light on a resolution?

Thanks,

Rafael

Hey Rafael,

The problem is storage space, if you haven't already got a SD card, buy one and put it into the phone then using the phone menu got to settings >  applications > Navigation and select move to sd card on the bottom left of screen. That should fix the problem. If you already have a SD card installed and the Navigon application is already on the card, follow the same prodecure only select move to phone as the last option. This solution if you read the above posts on this thread seems to have fixed the problem for all people.

Goog luck.

Hi Rafael,

I apologise about the delay in getting back to you.

This certainly shouldn't be happening when you open the Navigon Application, and I'd like to work with you to ensure this is working correctly.

The first thing we can try is installing the 'Navigon' free application from the Google Play Store here. Whilst this should already be installed and working on your phone, there may be an update that needs to be performed. Can you give this a go and let me know if the same error occurs?

Whilst being inside a building can affect the accuracy of GPS, this wouldn't prevent you from being able to open the application all together.

I look forward to your reply and getting this application up and running for you.

Regards,

Sarah.
