Hi Guys,
We've just approved the ICS Update for the Galaxy S II (Android 4.03).
Rollout of the update will begin shortly, keep an eye out here or the Vodafone Blog for the news.
Let me know what features you're looking for, waiting on or apps you're desperate to play below.
And any questions are welcome too, I'll share any news on this exciting update as soon as I lay hands on it ![]()
Thanks
Tim

Finially. haha =P
will be well worth the wait though =)
looking forward to using chrome/nova launcher =)
Also, how long does it normally take for update to reach phones, once it has been approved by vodafone?

... personally, I'm going to step back from the 'bleeding edge' and wait for some of the more adventurous out there to 'take one for the team'
I've waited this long - I can wait another week or two before upgrading ![]()
Looking forward to hearing how it all goes!
regards
John

What I am looking forward to from ICS.
Well the built in data monitor, allows you to see which app has been using data and just how much data it has used. Until voda can offer an unlimited plan, I believe this is a necessity for all smart phones.
The change to the WiFi icon now allows you to see when it is sending and receiving data.
The ability to disable bloat ware apps to stop them starting up at boot or memory clear. Like Samsung "bloat ware" I really dislike Yahoo finance app forever running in the background.
The group settings menu is great and neater.
Improved power saver widget.
The home screen and favourites tray, jut like on honeycomb , I think in ICS is long press home button and you can see running apps and previously open apps and see what is happening with them.
Being able to use Google Chrome beta would be nice.
There are few more features that I like the new connection Icon looks nice the wedge shape (some won't like it).
I like the group listings in the setting screen looks better and easier to use.
The new slide to unlock, just like on my Glalaxy tab 10.1.
Update features in some apps and games that we can't use with GB. I have tested this with my GF phone same version of some apps but she has ICS with Optus and it has some addtional live features where for my app has only basics.
Anyway this is just some of the things I have been waiting for.

Can you give an estimate on how shortly it will be released?

Getting the latest version of Kies, essential before you update to ICS on your SGS2
I was just checking if my version of kies was up to date and it appears not so kies tells me to update. (I can assure you all this will be necessary before updating to VFAU sgs2 ics)
Ok staightforward i thought and follwed the instruction in Kies to get the latest version : This then appears to go through a update procedure and downloads all necessary stuff. Ok finished and guess what? Kies asks me to update to the latest version again when i apparently already have it, after all i just downloaded it? So I go thorugh all the obvious stuff, restarting the program, virus scanners and checking again with the same result: "A newer version of Kies is available" Im running 64bit win 7 and i had the same problem with my older xp machine. Im not going to wait for an answer from samsung for this, so my advice(after some research) is to just go and find the latest version on the Samsung Apps website, not the samsung Australia website:
Link for Kies 2.3.0.12035_16
This is the latest version available on the samsung apps site in line with what kies asks you to update to if you are using an older version, what appears to be happening here is that Kies when you open it on youre pc knows youre an Australian Samsung user and points you to the Australain website for the update transparently. In all their wisdom they dont have the latest version but Kies downloads a newer version from the Australian website which is not the latest version of Kies on their servers as yet. Hope that makes sense.
Im fully aware of "the other ways" of updating youre device and to keep in forum rules and in the interests of the greater community im keeping it simple i am offering my advice based on personal experience. Dont bother asking about the other ways of doing it as youre comments will most likely be deleted by forum moderators.
Reinstalling the latest version of Kies:
*Make sure youre phone is working and youre happy that all youre data you want is on the device.
*If you havent already done so download the latest version of Kies from samsung below:
*Install the latest version and follow all on screen prompts. You can install the new version of Kies you have downloaded over the top of the old one: follow the screen promts and youll see what i mean.
Hopefully you wont get the message to update to the latest version again unless you click on the link above after a newer version has come out which in that case it probably wont work.
For future releases of Samsung Kies (if my above link expires due to a new release goto
http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as
and look for the latest version of Kies until Samsung sort their stuff out.
Happy updating!

I don't have any information to share just yet.
But if I did it would say Wednesday.
At lunchtime.
If I did ![]()
