Yes, that works, Bert, but really annoys the other people in the house especially my partner who works from home doing database admin for a large corporation! ![]()
What I'm trying today:
In my router I found I can set a reserved IP using the phones MAC address. The phone is currently connected to the router so I noted down the current IP address and then set that address as permanently reserved for my SII.
In my router (Netcomm NB6Plus4W)this is done by logging into the modem, going to Advanced then DHCP server then Reserved IP address.
If this doesn't work I'm not sure there's anything left to try except following an oft-repeated solution suggestion: rooting the phone and trying other ROMs. Not something I'm even going to attempt.

Happy to report the wifi problem hasn't happened since Saturday when I locked in the IP as in the post above this one.
Only a workaround but at least it's doing the job.
Battery drain is still terrible - 100% charge when I go bed, almost flat 7 hours later with wifi, data etc all turned off.

Good to hear you've found a workaround for your WiFi issue.
I've replied to your other thread about your battery issue here. At this stage I'd like to grab some more information so I can escalate the matter and have it investigated.
I've already sent you a PM with my email address.
Let me know if you have any other questions, otherwise I'll keep an eye out for your email.
Cheers,
Nick

This is a serious issue by Samsung/Google and driving me and thousands of others up the wall.

I am having exactly the same problem. Can anyone assist with sorting this out please?
