Hi Nick,
nickdp wrote:Handset is one week old, new HTC Sensation XL, upgraded to ICS via internet data, then tried to connect to home WiFi.
Error message reads: "Unable to connect due to an incorrect password or network issues. Would you like ot try again?"
I've searched around the net and have found a few reports of this occurring. It doesn't seem to be specific to the HTC Sensation XL either. The common factor seems to be the recent upgrade to ICS.
I've read that a number of people were able to fix the problem by changing the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" setting. Under Settings > WiFi > Menu (next to the home button) > Advanced > Keep WiFi on during sleep. If you change this setting are you then able to connect to the WiFi network?
nickdp wrote:So to help with troublshooting, I decided to disable wireless security and rebooted the router. On the handset, forgot the network, power-cycled, added it again, and the error message this time was "Not in range", then after a few moments, it says "Obtaining IP address", then after a few moments it says "Avoided poor internet connection", then after a minutes it reverts back to "Not in range", then after a few minutes, "Obtaining IP address" and on it goes ad infinitum.
Great troubleshooting! As well as trying to connect to an unsecured network on your router, have you tried changing the security mode to WPA? If not, can you please give it a go and let me know if this allows you to connect?
The other thing you might try is changing the router's channel. If you're unsure of how to do this, I'd suggest contacting Linksys technical support to get some assistance.
If after running through that your still having issues, can you please email me some details through so we can escalate this for you?
I'll send you a PM with my email address straight away so you can run some more tests and email me if the problem persists. You can access your PM inbox by following the link here.
If you do manage to fix the issue, please let us know how you went about it. This would be valuable information for people such as Iryan who are having the same problem
Cheers,
Nick

This Community relates specifically to Vodafone Australia customers, to get specific information about the ICS update in India, you may need to speak with your carrier directly ![]()

Hi,
If you got your HTC Sensation from Vodafone Australia, then you should have your update even if you're in India and connected to a different network provider.
Else, refer to the carrier where you bought your device.
