HTC One X wi-fi problem

Message 1 of 14 (1,761 Views)

I got my HTC One X just 2 days ago. The wi-fi drops down from full signal to zero when I keep my hand on the upper back of the phone. Is it repairable ? Should I send it back to vodafone technical support?

This is a known issue with this device, please read the article below. HTC must have hired the same guy that designed the iphone 4.

Long story short, HTC have nearly fixed the problem so the phones that are purchased in a month or two won't have the issue. Hopefully HTC honors the warranty with this issue.

Hi guys,

We've seen the GSM Arena article and have contacted HTC for clarification. Once we hear back, we'll be sure to let you know.

Your One X is covered by a 24 month warranty, so for any defects your first port of call will be to a Vodafone store to have the device assessed for repair.

If you've got any specific questions about the repair process, you can check out our online service centre or ask me here.

No update yet.

I'd suggest booking in your device for repair under warranty so we can take care of it for you. It will be the best way to get your device assessed if you're still experiencing the issue.

Are you finding it's still occurring regularly?

HTC called me regarding the wifi issue I'm having, they are not sure if it's a hardware problem as it's only occurring in some phones but most are fine. Apparently they are investigating it.

When Vodafone does find out from HTC if there is a hardware problem, will existing customers with the problem be able to do a swap or do we have to send it in for a repair? I don't think I fancy waiting a minimum of two weeks to fix it

I had the One X and I was facing these problems.

First I returned it during the 30 day warranty. Got it replaces.
Then I was having the same issues again. I took it to repairs, they couldn't resolve the issue so they decided to replace it to a new one (at least trays what they claimed). Unfortunately they lied, it wasn't new, I could tell from the obvious dirt under the screen protector and the charger marks on the USB port of the phone. I called up Vodafone and checked the repair briefing. It was a refurbished handset and was still facing the same problems. With enough arguing, I proved that my case is worth taking seriously. They offered another brand new One X. I refused. I was sick of the issues and it was obvious they weren't going away.

I was offer a Galaxy S 3. I accepted.

Although Vodafone Australia is awesome in service, some things are beyond their capabilities. Anyone facing issues with One X, I suggest calling 1555 and dealing with it seriously.

Best regards. I'm here to help.

1555 was no help to me and all the stores I went to will only do the repair service, not replace. Can you suggest any way I can get around that? Cheers
